My Story

I picked up my first guitar at 14, teaching myself to play along with albums I loved: the classics from Blue Rodeo, the latest from Smashing Pumpkins and Stone Temple Pilots, and all of Pearl Jam’s discography. For years, I played here and there, but it wasn’t until the isolation of the pandemic that I felt a strong need for a creative and emotional outlet.

That urge to improve led me to formal lessons, songwriting, and a virtual community of musicians from Minneapolis. From my cozy prairie corner, I built a project studio and have been honing my skills, testing new material for my sweet pup.

My ever-expanding collection of acoustic and electric guitars is a testament to my passion, as is my dedication to learning from the greats and drawing inspiration from everyday life to the frets.

My songs cross genre lines with ease; Americana meets pop, and country finds a home within rock. Music from these traditions has long been my soul food, and over the years, I’ve found wisdom in liner notes and lyrics. So, it’s no surprise to those who know me that my songs are truly my stories. Finding the perfect chord progression to set those stories to music is what every songwriter dreams of, and this is the magic I hope you hear when you press play.

When I’m not recording, performing, or teaching my amazing elementary and middle school students, I’m likely either on my way to or in the audience for live music, often travelling far and wide for the bands I love.
